Well, it isn’t sugar cane. Sugar cane grows 6’-8’ tall with long skinny leaves that grow up & outwards. The stalks are very hard & can be peeled with a long,very sharp knife as if you are working whittling wood. The inside is hard & stringy. You can cut it crossways & chew it. It is not real juicy but does release a sweet flavor. Sugar cane is grown in South Florida where they have Sugar Mills to process the cane. Before processing, the fields are set afire where they burn. This kill any weeds, snakes, etc. Workers then come in with machetes & chop down the remaining plants. The stalks are loaded onto train cars that carry the cane to the mill for processing. Once there, it goes through several different stages of processing until you get white sugar. Brown sugar is one of the stages it reaches before it becomes white. Years ago, they used to give tours through the mills so you could witness the different processes. I can tell you the smell is sickening.

this is definitely not sugar cane, which is beige on the inside and stringy but it also grows like bamboo but has corn leaves type stalk so what kind of vegetable stalk is this cause it looks like some type of lettuce growth
