For those who don’t know — this isn’t just a random act. In Slavic Orthodox tradition, people often take an icy plunge during Epiphany (usually in January) to symbolize purification and renewal. The hand gesture before entering the water is the Sign of the Cross, a prayer for blessing and protection.

I thought this was what was referred to as a “Danish Dive” health clubs years ago had these and warned do not put your head underwater. Once you get past the icy cold it is refreshing and invigorating. After you would go into a sauna. Felt great but I was much younger

it comes from the Jewish tradition of immersing in a mikveh. Certain Christian orthodox sects also have these same ritual immersion as well.

Baptism with three dunks (triple immersion) is a practice primarily seen in the Eastern Orthodox Church, symbolizing burial and resurrection and honoring the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), though some Protestants (like certain Anabaptists, e.g., Church of the Brethren, who are called Dunkers) and even Catholics (who often pour water three times) use variations, but the core tradition for full immersion is Eastern Orthodoxy. Who Practices It: Eastern Orthodox Church: This is their standard, full immersion method, performed three times. Anabaptists/Dunkers: The Church of the Brethren, for example, practice baptism by full immersion (dunking) three times, a practice that led to their nickname "Dunkers". Early Christianity/Didache: Early Christian writings, like the Didache, mention triple immersion or pouring as acceptable.

Symbolism: Death & Resurrection: Going under the water symbolizes dying with Christ, and coming up represents rising to new life. The Trinity: Each dunk or pouring represents the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as believers are baptized "into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19).  Variations: Catholicism: While traditionally allowing triple immersion, the Catholic Church often performs baptism by pouring water three times over the head (affusion). Protestantism: Many Protestant denominations use sprinkling (aspersion) or pouring (affusion) once or three times, but immersion is less common outside Anabaptist traditions.

That’s awesome! You see that girls in America you can be sexy and wear a dress when you swim or dunk. You don’t have to be in a two-piece bikini.🤨 This chick proved it!

aint no 'waterpark'! that there is a kill-birth kill-birth kill-birth pool! Used during the Inquisition to kill 'witches' multiple times, was discontinued due to an unforeseen result. This antiquated form of torture was used only once and then all knowledge *GASP*buried by the church and until now was only spoken of by dedicated Scholars.. where did you get such footage!? Is this all that exists!?! *GASP*
