HOT

I'm afraid this may happen to me , I have lived on this property for 52 years , I inherited it from my mother when I moved back here to take care of her until she passed in 1991...At one time it was a quiet secluded area with just 1 neighbor across the way , No one knew this place existed back here because it cannot be seen from a highway and the lane to get back here was dirt....At night all you can hear are tree frogs and crickets...In the winter you can actually hear the snow falling...but recently that all changed , The man who owed these properties except mine sold all of his empty lots , and they started to put in a big apartment complex and are about to widen and pave the lane that Leeds to my property , I'm elderly and disabled and I have no living relatives , no spouse or significant other....I'm devastated because I'm scared they will make me leave , I'm scared because I don't know where I would go...It's frightening ..

I'm sorry but if this were real the city, county, state, or federal government can come in asses fair market value and simply pay you for the property. Doesn't matter if the property been in the family for generations. It's called imminent domain. It sucks ass royally but nothing you can do. Here in America anyway!!

There is an old home on a corner property here in Maricopa, AZ that had a housing community recently built around it. The owner is still there, so is the house. It's a big lot and I pass by many times during the week and always think, "good for you!".

many years ago in a town and state i used to live in ( it was 50's maybe 60's) they were building i95. there was a lady whose house was in the way of highway. she stood out there with her shotgun and threatened whoever. they ended up building the highway away from her house. everyone in town knew shotgun anne.

South of Cleveland, Texas on hwy 59 at the bridge it has a family cemetery and they tried the family to move it and the courts shot it down saying they couldn’t do that and the cemetery has been there as far back as I can remember. I can’t believe they won that one. It’s not a big cemetery but it is there to stay.

FAKE. Eminent Domain allows them to take your property at fair market value.

There was a beautiful house in blue bell pa that was taken by eminent domain to add lanes to the existing pa turnpike. I used to drive by it everyday then one day it was gone. The government sucks the life out of living.

Eminent domain: Eminent domain is the government's power to take private property for public use, as long as "just compensation" is paid to the owner.

They should have built a bridge over her house. Then everyone can say she lives under a bridge! 😂

Eminent domain. The government will give the owner the current value, whether they like it or not. Because it will benefit the betterment of the community.

I don't see how this could ever have happened ... I've never called AI but this certainly qualifies as a leading contender! There's no way the gov't wouldn't have claimed imminent domain and gone right thru it just like they have thousands of properties all over the country. Just sayin'... (looks a little AI ish...?) <><

You can tell by just looking at the video that this isn’t in the US because of all the undeveloped land around it. If that was here there’d of been shopping malls and gas stations and so forth!

Eminent Domain does pay fair market value. Problem; The “fair “ market value is determined by the entity taking your land.

A couple towns over from me, there was a nice housing community and adjacent was a dirt race track which was the highlight of my youth. When the race track folded up shop, they sold their property and now there is a town industry development park there and where the housing community one was. One home owner said screw you and stood his ground. He currently is living smack dab in the middle of an industrial park.. that’s the story I heard and the home and occupants are there every day so I expect that it’s true.
