I just learned what Manatees are. For the comment about folks should know what they are...NO!! If one doesn't know what something is and they are asking why not just tell them instead of all of the smart and rude comments. When you were young teachers always said if you don't know then ask. It's ignorant that nowadays you can't ask a simple question!!

I jumped in the charlotte harbor when we were out on the boat and 3 manatees ended up swimming around me, I was scared shirtless at first and literally ended up feeling like one of them was my BFF/spirit animal it kept coming up to me super gentle, like doing the head nudges like a dog that wants to be pet. coolest thing ever. I ended up spending about 45 minutes in the water with them and it literally felt like the manatee was sad when I got back on the boat. it just stayed there staring at me like it thought I was part of their family now and it couldnt figure out why I was leaving
If ya live in Florida around large bodies of water you may very well have seen one see a news cast about one being seen someplace.
I remember one time when I was 13 down in Florida and swimming in a lake down there and about four of these Giants come up to me I'm just a little boy and scared to live in doodles out of me but they were gentle they didn't mind me petting them and then they just swam off peacefully it was so much fun afterwards I thought I was super blessed for that.
I just want to say this. There are things that you may not know about or seen. I was shocked when I saw peacocks in Nebraska or an ostrich on the outskirts of Austin Tx both surprised me big time. Or the bats that fly from under a bridge in Austin ( I guess it’s a big thing). You live long enough you might be surprised at what you might see.

Manatees are gentle giants who like to drink fresh water. Back in the 1940's when the Miami, FL river was clear, my mother said you could see them in the river, some nursing their young, etc At the Coast Guard station in Cape Canaveral, Fl, they used to like to swim up to the seawall where some people would put out a garden hose and they would drink fresh water. They are tame and a protected species.

I'm from Florida where we have a lot of Manatee so I already figured from the second time of looking that it had to be amenity period but everybody don't stay in states that have these Mammals
had a boat in one of the keys bring one right up to my mom n I when I was a kid, n got 2 play w it n pet it, I fell in love w manatees after that...sweetest n cutest sea animals there are...💕

I was snorkeling in Belize one year and when I went under the water, there was a manatee literally 2 feet away from me, staring at me with his big eyes and we floated face-to-face, looking at each other for about five minutes. It was one of the most fascinating experiences I’ve ever had and then he turned and just slowly drifted away.

It’s a Chubby Wster Elephant 💕 A Manatee 🌸💕💕💕 Getting a Drink of Water. They are so gentle beautiful and curious 💕 We visited a Manatee rescue park for injured and sick manatees last spring when we went to Florida… I was in Awe… The way they track them is quite ingenious.. They strap numberd Bouy to them and they track them to run tests to monitor their recovery. Some or Most of them have been Sliced and Diced up from Irresponsible boaters to drive their speeds boats and luxury cruisers thru protected water ways with STRICT GUIDLINES AND POSTED SPEEDS to get to Open Waters. It’s disgusting to see do many injured animals. They truly are Very Genyle and Curious about us humans as we are of them.
