I went through basic training as a 19 year old, 95 pound woman and I never dropped out of a run. Hooah!
In boot camp while on our run a shipmates glasses fogged up. He ran into a telephone pole. Knocked him down. I stopped and carried him to the finish line. Got in trouble with the drill instructor. Got set back two weeks. I’d do it again. We take care of our shipmates.

Dehydration and possible heat stroke! That leader should be held accountable for the soldiers welfare in this case. He must immediately get him in the shade, loosen his belt and boots and remove his uniform top and gradually cool him off and have him hydrate slowly.

I was 25 years old in basic. 7 or 8 years older than most of my peers. I never was last usually in the top 10 of my platoon and company in physical training and activities. was a platoon guide in leadership. graduated as soldier of the cycle. this is indicative of a moral and mental breakdown of our youth and nation. our ancestors were much more determined and able to push through difficulties. sad

In jump school (years ago) we did a timed 2 mile run in formation. In order to move on to jump week you had to finish the run on time. It didn’t say under your own power just finish the run on time. So I and another soldier (I’m not mentioning our pay grade) carried a fellow trooper over the finish line on time. Pucked my guts out but we were successful. Airborne All The Way!
