In each of these cases it became better due to outside influences. This is a bad example.

that is not true. it might be the same kind of steak, but not the same steak. if you will notice, higher priced places to eat tend to draw a better glass of people than you will find in cheap places. it's the same with transportation. Greyhound bus to the transportation industry is like planet fitness is to the health club industry. they are both low cost and what you get are the offscourings of society. it is the same with restaurants and other eateries. drink coffee in dunkin' donuts for a while. then start hanging out at Starbucks. you will notice a different class of people. lower classes at dunkin' donuts and the better classes at Starbucks. it's the same with everything. the steak might be the same kind of meat, but as for myself, I would rather eat in peace among decent people than to have to put up with a bunch of low class scumbags in some crummy restaurant just because it costs less money.

my mother told me once, you can't cook a $4 steak and make it taste like a $50 steak. so I got 2 $4 steaks, cooked them how she likes them. she tasted them, and said they were both great, but the $4 steak was her favorite thinking it was a $50 steak.

to be fair at the restaurant your paying for the service and the preparation of the meat to be eaten. difference between a Michelin star chef and an average Joe cooking your meal.

It depends on how you want to have your steak as to the cost, naturally buying it wholesale would be cheaper than the butcher also.

I've worked in high end dining and gray spoons. Denny's is not selling the same steak as McCormick and Schmidt. Not even close

I have to disagree. I have been to many restaurants and the expensive ones have very good steaks. The cheaper restaurants don't buy the higher quality of meat. There is a big difference. Plus the cook makes a big difference.
