I used to work in a liquor store and one day I show up ( 10 minutes early ) and there is , as usual a guy sitting in his car waiting. so im assuming he'd be aware i have to get the store opened and put in the drawer, no shit, I opened the electronic storm door then unlock the door. I walk in and turn to flip on the lights and I swear on my life this old dude was standing directly behind me in the dark store. I was like " uh can you at least let me go turn on all the lights " . it wasnt uncommon that there were usually people outside waiting pretty much every morning i live in a mostly retirement area in southwest florida and these old folk LOVE there morning booze. most of them to go take golfing or to church ( not even kidding ) . then of course the crackheads lining up for their fireball shots. but not even the crackheads would follow you in first thing in the morning even they'd give you a second to do what you had to do
if I was her I would have gone to the back of the line and waited...and waited... and eventually asked them if they would like me to open the door yet or if they felt like waiting around a while longer.
I would have closed the door behind me and made them wait until I had taken my coat off gotten comfortable with a drink before letting them in 😆😆🥰👍
Been there done that, done that. I worked at a park. I pulled up to the gate to open it, and a couple of guys yelled at me. So I moved my truck to the back of the like. Thirty minutes later, I walked to the front of the line to see what was going on. The guys were pissed about the park opening late, and talking about cutting the lock. I showed them the key, then walked back to my truck, drove back to the front of the line, and opened the gate. They complained to my boss. After the boss questioned me about it, my boss threy the guys out of the park. Boss had my back.
Why are people are so rude and stupid? I would have locked the door behind me and let them stand until I got ready to open.
I would have stand in line and ask them to try their key because I have to wait for them to move to try mine

Stand your ground! The woman with the key could have, and should have introduced herself; Greetings, good morning, Welcome to the store, I have the key. The incident never would have occurred! That’s if it was legit, which I doubt in the first place. It does serve as a “teaching moment “, however.
happened to me was working at Big Lots, Black Friday,were about 100 people in line. I just screamed I'm the cashier,and the seas parted. Do not miss working retail.

I had this happen when I was working registration for a conference. Registration started at 8:00 am but the hall was filled with people lined up and my team was in place inside, so I was going to open as soon as I walked in! The doors were closed, so when I went to open them, several yelled, excuse me the line is back there! Then one said people kill me thinking they can just walk in front of the line with the Amen corner agreeing! Now I said good morning to everyone when I walked up! My shirt had a registration logo on it and I was opening up the secured doors to let them in! I turned to the line and stated, you are correct but I’m the registration chair, so now I will be back at 7:58 am to open the doors, then I went across the hall and had a cup of coffee where they could see me sitting there drinking it! When one of the team stuck their head out to door and asked were we still going to open early, I told them no, to open the doors at 8:00 am! The looks were priceless!

Been there done that. Opening day of hunting season. I was working in a diner. We always opened for the opening day early. We opened at 5 am. I get there at 4:30 am with trucks already in the lot. I go in start turning lights on and go to turn on kitchen lights and I hear a holler hey you get coffee made yet. Scared the 💩 out of me.
