They teach in swimming class if you try to save someone and they pull you down you kick them away till they are out of energy then save them if you can. The right way you get behind them and swimming on your back while you have them on their back also while keeping their head up

When you attempt to rescue someone drowning, you put their back to your chest with your arms under their armpits and you swim backwards keeping both of your heads above the water.
of you're not trained to resue a drowning victim, stay out the water. it is a natural instinct to stay alive and they will pull u down. I consider myself a very strong swimmer and I was almost drowned saving someone. never again unless there is some kind of flotation device with me. one of the scariest moments of my life. literally thought I was gonna die
what I don't understand is why didn't the white guy jump in with something that they both can hold on to and that would keep their head above water at least an empty jug hell a 2-liter bottle would even work just put it under your chin so that hold your head above water
both ended up drowning in the end before video was cut short

When I was in boy scouts they warned about exactly what this guy said, and exactly what happened. The drowning man is panicking and will commonly push the rescuer under. They even had diagrams showing that when that happens, push further down away from the person and then swim away and up. Scary to watch
