Me and my siblings were disciplined with a belt , switches and hands. Never hurt us and we grew up respectful. Also learned if we wanted something then we had to work for it. Both my parents are gone now and I miss them so much. Spare the rod and spoil the child. Look at how are children are today. No respect for anyone and just takes what they want. Nope. when they came up with the phrase, time out kids began to getaway with everything. We did not have time out when we were growing up. your time out was the time it took for your rare end to cool off after we got a belt. that was recovery time. Time out my behind.

I disagree using belts . I grewup in abusive house. I was 11 whipped with a garden hose that cut to Cipher gas. I had marks from shoulders down to my feet . I get he needs to respect his Mother . And I get this showing he's now dealing with his father.
