My ex, his cat, does that. She has a nice warm bed but loves the heat vent. My cat wants my heating pad when I have it on and using it. She also doesn't want to share it. It's hard to get it back when I get up for a few minutes. Spoiled rotten.

He is staying warm. Not much heat comes out of there or he wouldn't be able to lay on it. I say turn up the heat.
When I was a little kid my parents had an old, old house with ornate covers on huge floor vents. My Siamese cat would sprawl out over the floor vent and the rest of us would put on sweaters. She ruled the roost!
