If I had a dog that did that to me I'd put it down myself immediately!! That dog should know it's owner by their SCENT! This was completely uncalled for and unexpected. This behavior is due to owners who don't know how to control and train their own dog. Dogs are not born to be vicious like that.

We used to run a dog rescue, and something about this looks off. A vicious dog who attacks his owner does not calm down that fast and stay so close. They get even more hyped up. Lookat his tail, this dog is clearly puzzled, not growling either, the whole time. Something else went wrong. Perhaps a trick or command not properly taught. Maybe an attack signal. Dog's not guilty

I’m a training zoologist and although my focus is on ornithology (birds) I can say that dogs smell the world WAY more than see it. The dog would’ve 98% known this was his owner based on smell alone. This dog attacked unprovoked anyway so it’s definitely not an identity thing.
