Officers should always have partners to each other. Male offenders seem to always want to give the female officers a bad time and fight her. My brother's girlfriend was a Highway Patrol officer, and had a lot of stories to relate to us.
I've seen this before, and if not for her backup, she wouldn't have made it out alive.
