I served in the U.S Navy on the USS Nassau and were took on 11 Somalian pirates in our brig! They shot at a ship traveling with us and were fired upon with the dual .50 cal machine guns on that vessel! Several died, 4 had 3rd degree burns on 80% of their bodies and were staged in medical where I stood watch over them with a 9mm! Evil men, the glares they have at times were nightmarish and you could see in their eyes they wouldn鈥檛 think twice about ending anyone鈥檚 life on that ship for their freedom!! OBAMA PARDONED THEM ALL AND RELEASED THEM BACK TO SOMALIA!!!!馃が馃嚭馃嚫鈿栵笍馃椊
I鈥檓 a master gunner and no one there would pass gunnery school. Good grief. And if the navy rules of engagement (ROE) allows other vessels to get that close change is needed!
After 30 years I punched out of the US Army. We've got to change our ROE to properly defend ourselves.
The navy had better begin to utilize FPV drones for defense against small adversaries - before those pirates begin to use drones against them.
Respectfully, was the Navy just trying to scare these pirates or shoot them? If they were trying to scare them it wasn鈥檛 working. If they were trying to hit them, they need to go back for a bunch of training, they were terrible shots and wasted a lot of ammunition.

my father was in the Navy he was a bowsmans first mate in WW2I forgot the ship name ..I've been trying to find a picture of him because my house burned down a few years ago and I had the only one .. it was an old drivers license of his .. if anyone knows of a way to find one please let me know ..I've tried everything I know to do ..thankyou

Fake. US Navy Ships 馃殺 do not just stand sill while underway! It would not just sit there and expose itself to enemy action. Even if it had to be discharged or board personnel, it can do that at slow speeds while still underway or using vertical rep such as helicopters 馃殎!
