I have a PhD in psychology and I worked with at risk youths. This is NEVER the way to interact with them!! Your officers need some additional classes in de-escalation techniques! Rather than calm the kid down, your people baited her! Idiots!

As a detention worker, you can not tell someone to hit you. No charges were filed because they both were in the wrong. You still have to be professional at all times. You can even see the other guard grab her arm to pull her away. Not a good look for this department and it went on TV.

I'm a Deputy Sheriff and I agree with most of the comments. These children now days has NO Discipline at ALL!!!! The ones that think the officer was wrong I disagree. This is the same type of child that's out here committing crimes. If this person committed a crime to you then you would be saying something different. These children are entitled little brats. These children need to learn to control their actions and respect authority. Even if someone says something you don't like doesn't give you the right to react. It's different if someone put their hands on you.

I'm Retired Correctional Officer and this Officer needs to be better in control of herself if she's gonna participate in program,these kids need help and discipline but encouraging violence from them and then punishing them is not the way.

The cop can’t claim self defense if you retaliate against someone hitting you after YOU instigated it. 2. This could be considered self defense on the girls behalf, the cop got in her face and was intimidating her. 3. She literally said to hit her, you can claim that you genuinely thought they were okay with it.

Kids don’t have the higher level discernment to know when an adult tells them to ‘do something if they WANT to’ not to actually do it. The girl answers yes. when the police officer ask her questions. So is the not official fault. Because she is the jail to scare them . To fall in the gang or in drug. if she follows directions she won't be here in the first place. if she listen to her parents even her parents love her they're good people you don't know but still you have a child who doesn't fall attractions who thinks the world is okay to just get the gang and go to prostitution and do drugs.
