my uncle was did same way in Alabama.. they were called work farms.. my grandma said my uncle Left going to work with these white people.. this was 1908... they never saw or heard from him ever again.. now they are all dead.... the government knew about these work farms.... watch the movie 🎥 the grape of wrath.
