its actually the perception of the person viewing you can't see yourself in the mirror through the towel but the other viewer can see both sides
your brain thinks its seeing the mirror behind the towel, but you're not. you're seeing the reflections in the part of the mirror that isnt covered. its a weird optical illusion, but you can break it by taking a few steps back. as the mirror loses sightline with you, you won't be able to see anything behind the towel
