Orange Thanos strikes again. Or should I say snaps again? The East Wing is obliterated to make room for a $300 million ballroom nobody wants or needs. A perfect metaphor for what he's doing to our country.
In 1933, Adolf Hitler decided to expand theΒ Reich Chancellery (Reichskanzlei), which he considered too small for his needs. On 21 July 1935,Β plans were submitted for a large reception hall/ballroom to be built onto the old Chancellery, unique because of the large cellar that led a further one-and-a-half meters down to a bunker, which later became known as theΒ Vorbunker. Curious similarity with Trumpo's obliteration of the historical East Wing sans permits to build a fortified ballroom (albeit much bigger than the 1930s version) directly above the Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC), which is a secure bunker that serves as a shelter and communications center for the president and other officials during emergencies, such as a nuclear war.

This was Roosevelt West Wing renovation/construction.
The only part of the post 1812 White House is part of the outside walls. No walls, floors, ceilings or stairs. The east wing was not added to 1940s.
