This just tells you that these long time politicians need to check back in their own history and see what laws they signed into law before they start protesting against blowing up drug boats today, just because they may disagree with the law now, just because they might not agree with, but you were the reason that you signed that law in that says that our president has the right to blow them out the water. The current administration is not using Schumer’s 1986 law to justify the strikes. Instead, they have designated drug cartels as "Foreign Terrorists." This allows them to use the Law of Armed Conflict (military rules) instead of Maritime Law (police rules).

The law specifies that the U S COAST GUARD can approach the vehicle and take them prisoners and bring them to the U S to undergo a legal process. It did not say that the U S military could arbitrarily blow up boats. As a matter of fact ONLY the COAST GUARD was permitted to act in that manner. Also, they can only blow up boats, if those aboard the boat opened fire on the COAST GUARD. It did not say that they can continue to strike the boat if its occupants were rendered harmless Schumer may have introduced the bill, but he couldn’t individually make it a law. As a matter of fact the law was passed unanimously. Why don’t you lis all who voted for it. And even if he could, that doesn’t make it right.
