I agree with Mayor Harris. Send more police, send more FBI , more state troopers and more US marshals. A man was carjacked in his driveway the other night. A woman was shot by her husband in their house the other night. How in the world Would the National Guard have stopped that? Are they planning on patrolling every single street in every neighborhood in the entire city? I can see the police doing that if we had enough but don't see that happening with the National guard.
what is gun violence prevention money? Just wasteful spending by our government. If you didn't want the military, why in the hell didn't you hire more police. At one point, Memphis was one of the most beautiful cities to visit in the country. Now, you have to worry about being discriminated against on both sides of the fence white or black when having a night out or people stealing Hellcats or your Hellcat to take to the chop shop or even stealing cheap ugly Kias just to do it. Get Memphis back to its strengths ..get the youths passions to positively developing them without them feeling like they only have the streets to turn to. Keep the older gang bangers from developing and praying in the youth of Memphis to do their dirty work. Get these kids raised up right which are the future of Memphis.

I grew up in Memphis. memphis was a wonderful city. It still has lots of things to offer. But when you talk about people that don't live in the city anymore, they don't want to go there. They don't want to drive through there because they don't know whether they'll even get to come home later. it is a shame that our beautiful city has come to what it is today. If there is even a single chance that they can improve the city of crime, then they should be able to do it. It's plain to see that the Shelby County mayor or the police department in Memphis, need help, or else they would have already got a grip on this. I live in Mississippi now. Simply because of the crime that was in Memphis. I used to say that I came from Memphis. I am embarrassed to say I'm from Memphis or even near Memphis because of the crime. You have to fight the gang violence and all of the carjackings, and the crime you have to fight fire with fire.
