There are always two sides to the story. Unfortunately, the deceased teacher cannot speak up.
That’s ridiculous. The teacher encouraged the participation and was excited about engaging with his students. He would not want this. People are evil. And want sympathy for themselves but give none to others. Especially a young kid doing a tradition the kids did at that school. The kid is probably traumatized forever as it is his favorite teacher and a tragedy.
The young man needs to be held accountable. Otherwise, he will think that he can get away with anything.

if I was cleaning my gun and just at the exact time a person was walking by the front of the house, the gun fired and the bullet goes through my window and kills that person, is that an accident?! There was no intent, just a person being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Of course I made the mistake of not checking the chamber but it was just an accident, right? Should I be charged?

This is all too sad. A young teacher is dead, totally by accident. This man's family has forgiven him. Which really speaks volumes about them. I'm so very sorry for their loss, for all family members, friends, colleagues, and students. Over a prank that all went bad. My heart aches for all of you. Of course, I didn't know him, but know that he had to be 1 great man it shows in his family. I hope the judge will be understanding in this case. Accidents happen and I'm sure this young man feels bad enough about what happened. I wished they could have saved him. God bless and give this family the strength to get through this tragic time. 😔🙏💕
It doesn’t matter because a life was taken and the prank that was going to take place was still a crime. Even though the family request that any charges be dropped!! The law can’t do that because that’s meaning that any other situation like this will those involved won’t be tried!!!🙏🏼🙏🏼
