Because parents know what got them where they are so the advice they have may keep you from making the same mistakes they made and putting yourself in the same situation or worse.

This poor this poor kid he will realize when he’s about 50 that his parents were trying to do the best they could with him with the fast moving world we live in with social media and all the other bullshit parents also have to pivot and learn how to parent around all of this nastiness in this world that we did not grow up inI know I’m 54 and there are things that my dad taught me as a child or try to teach me I reflect back on it and think damn yeah he was right.

You know when I was a kid, there were rules we followed. Parents are the guideline for kids until they are 18. Love them. Most parents are giving advice out of love. Its funny my kids thought my husband and I were slave drivers. They had to do homework. They had chores. We didn't leave them alone very often. They had food on the table and clothes and occasionally money to do things. There were some teachers that gave my kids that same advice in their classrooms. My oldest played into that. To this day she regrets listening to their advice.
