I remember my mama hitting my 10 year old brother 32 times with a belt..me and my sisters sat on the couch scared and counted every one of them....we feared our parents..it was yes mam and no mam..no sir and yes sir..we didn't sit under the adults, we were made to go outside, older people got to sit ,we stood....old school raising...We never got a beating for the same thing ever again , I tell you that! ..one shot one kill..mama didn't repeat herself..

It's just quite weird hope even 20 to 40 years ago nobody needed a mental health meds not on the level they do today. Why is that? Old school I got my ass whooped so did my other siblings. We got a little older. My mother will grab things to throw at us. We were not up in the adult space we were in the room or outside. I am 55 years old. I would never curse in front of somebody that is old enough to be my mother or my grandparents. If I’m outside drinking with the fellas my elders come by I put my liquor behind my back if I see an elder coming by, I will put my blown out so they wouldn’t smell it. Respect goes a long way. I have seven kids and I coached thousands of kids, Pop, Warner AAU and everybody know Big Unk Kevin play with the kids but don’t play with the kids you get it. It’s a fine line thinner than a piece of thread. I got the whole hood give me more respect sometimes than their own parents. The thing with the parents today they more of their child’s friend then being a parent. Underage, drinking, and smoking at your house. Father talking gangster to the boys Mother halfway dress dancing exotically.🤦🏽♂️

I think some discipline is always acceptable. However, hitting, beating etc your child is not the way. Too many people were abused and se call it tough love. Then, when the grandparents see how their kids treat their children/grandchildren, it becomes a different story. 🤔 Stop this kind of cycle!!

I'm 43 years old boy and I knew that I was only to speak when spoken to, my chores needed to be done, if I back talk I was picking up my teeth up off the floor. my mama only told us one time and one time only, and we got our ass beat if we didn't do as we was told point blank. it is what it is, like I said I don't know the story behind this woman and I hope that kids are okay, because it's not okay to hurt your children but it is okay to discipline them.

When I worked in a nursing home my friend and I just thought of some people as physically mental ill such as strikes, dementia, and so on. And some had like brain chemicals out of wack. Then we had mentally mental illness groups. But those were rare and they needed meds but no one cared and just let them sit there living a terrible mentally ill life and didn’t try to give them meds.

I have a memory I'll NEVER forget as long as I live when my madrina ("Godmother") made me get in a tub of water naked and when good and wet, from head to toe, she proceeded to beat my ass with a 3-legged leather strap until I bled everywhere all because a bunch of us kids were dancing the tango. I was 5! When my mother came home from work and found her "baby" in between blood soaked sheets, she beat the shit out of her! They didn't speak for a very long time. On her death bed she asked for my forgiveness and I did. The next day she was gone, but the memory of it still haunts me till this day.
