I know this will disappoint people but, this is not entirely real. Gorilla's, even Koko have not shown the capacity for this kind of complex cognitive communication with humans. This is manipulated and false. That said these magnificent animals are quite intelligent, sentient, self aware beings that deserve freedom and respect. Unless humans can make animals more human like, we resist honoring and respecting their unique natures. Why cant we just accept their differences and see their worth regardless. Humans have a hard time accepting other humans that are different. Their solution with animals is to manufacture false narratives, to anthromorphisize, not for benefit of the animal but the comfort of the human.
