The Phalynx system was a standard defense system aboard all ships, and many land based mounts as well as early as as 1982!🤔 It can track and destroy an incoming air or sea contact accurately within 3 shots as it tracks it's owns shots and knows if it missed before it even hits corrects and fired and then again before the first round hits.....very fast....3000 rounds a minute. Rounds are about 6" long and 1" round 😲👍... Very cool .. we called it R2D2 With A Hard On!👍

This weapon system needs to have two backups ! So one could be getting reloading as the other one of the others are shooting ! And the reload times have to be changed drastically ! I don’t believe a half an hour to reload this thing it’s sensible in a combat environment!

I say that beautiful peace of equipment could be miniaturized for drones on tanks, IFV,'s, APC's, it could shoot 5.56. 7.62. even. 22 caliber would work for the small FPV and medium sized drones.

I was on the USS Lockwood out of Yokosuka Japan in Midway Battle Group 1986-1989..... enjoyed my time fighting commies including a young Regional KGB Director known for being extra ruthless and unnecessary evil in his tactics of obtaining information from targets.... ordering the rape and torture of family even VERY young children in front of their parents to gain information!
