I am confused as to what everyone thinks the police officers did wrong here. Imagine this scenario… your child goes to their friends house. Their friends, mom or dad beat the crap out of your kid and leaves them laying in a pool of blood on the bedroom floor. The neighbor downstairs calls the police and says there’s screaming and banging going on in the apartment right above me. The police go to that apartment and the adult that answers the door says “no nobody’s here. It’s just me”. The police leave and believe that nothing went on in that apartment. They checked the rest of the building and find nothing. The next day they get a call that a child’s remains have been found next to their dumpster. Who are you going to blame, besides the murderer?

It’s not the wrong apartment if the neighbor called and said the screaming was coming from this apartment. Him not allowing them in to just check to make sure no one is hurt in their apartment, takes away the time they may have needed to save someone’s life. What’s the big deal helping the police find where the screams are coming from? You must really not care about anyone but yourself to act this way in an emergency.
