The Bloods and Crips both started with a sense of purpose, aiming to protect their communities and give young men belonging in a hostile environment. Over time that purpose was corrupted as protection turned into extortion, unity into division, and belonging into a cycle of violence. What began as neighborhood defense was consumed by drugs, money, and ego until the gangs became less like guardians of their community and more like anchors dragging it down. Supporting them is disgusting because it means cheering for the very destruction of the neighborhoods they once claimed to protect. It is also hilarious when you compare these self-proclaimed “tough guys” with real hardworking American men who build families, run businesses, and serve their country, while the gangsters waste their lives fighting over colors and corners.
