My mom raised 4 of us from the 60’s-80’s and never once did she ever speak like that. Nor did my grandparents.

No! My parents never talked to me and my bro like this. Maybe some parents did but not the ones who I used to be around.
I know I'm going to be cursed out but this way of parenting does a whole lot of harm and gives only temporary benefit. When you're cursed out, called out of your name, yelled at and lazily parented you grow up scary, confused, afraid to try things, sensitive, low self worth, low self esteem, misunderstood, unloved, etc. Which is why people resort to looking for love in the wrong places. This is why there are so many drug addicts, promiscuous youth, run aways, angry youth fighting in school and killing each other among other things.She could have yelled get down, and then scheduled a funeral outing where she could exercise and get that energy out. As adults we have a lot of power to guide to appropriate activities and fail to see that.
I grew up in the 50s and 60s and we yes our house had disaplain in it ,we got checked when we got out line ,and a lot of us grow up very respectfully, some of us raised our children to be respectful, but this new generation of children are raising their parents, but it's because of society has told these parents of today that they can't disaplain their children, so therefore these child of today do whatever they want to do and most of time there are no consequences behind it. But when the police beat them up,the courts calls it the right kinds of disaplain.
