She may not have had the extra money, for the checked baggage fee. Security official and Staff members were better trained, in with All International Airport Airlines, They would have known better on how, defuse this situation. First of all ! Take a deep breath đźâđš Call a supervisor, By offering if there was any chance, she would discard anything ? Because items tend to make your bag, not fit in the size chart! Ask if she could rearrange her items in bag ?

They could check the bag in the cabin closet if she needs it (medically) or under the plane for gate check.
She could have checked the bag if they let her.
That is downright MEAN of security, she might not have had the money to pay more. She could've left the bag, with security, if they would have HELD it for her, if everything in her bag CLEAR... Have some compassion & give a "warning". SWA in Dallas one time would not let me and my son board bc we were a little late. The plane didn't leave until 30 mins plus!! We missed my nephew's funeral.

Thatâs BS. She could have kept the bag, which isnât very huge, on her lap. It was evidently important that she made the flight. She didnât pay for a ticket for no reason.

Ryan Air gave my wife a problem and we paid extra but the same bag was checked on American Airlines to and from Europe an two other Airlines flying around Europe
I used to work as a ticket and gate agent for Alaska Airlines. There is a metal 'check to see if your bag fits' frame which every airline has, usually at the ticket counter, where you check your bags. I've argued with passengers who claim, "Oh, but my bag fits in it!" Yeah, lady, if you turn the four-foot long by 18-inch wide box on its edge! That doesn't mean it 'fits' in the carry-on measuring frame. It has to fit COMPLETELY INSIDE, nothing sticking out. She most likely refused the $25 or whatever gate-check fee. Tough noogies.
You need to follow the rules! You are no exception to the rules or you should not be .suck it up buttercup!

The airline security were not treating her properly if the bag fit the sizer. Apparently it did fit! This is so frustrating for people that have family an emergency or various other issues! I actually feel so sorry for this woman!đ€
