when i was a Hotel Manager I told my staff to stop apologizing. Empathize without apologies and offer solutions. AND I SAID NEVER EVER TAKE ABUSE FROM ANYONE. I will lose my job before I allow abuse. A decent attempt at de escalation is all I expect. I take a lot of abuse from guests and customers because i am very good at calming people down but I will nearly lose all sanity if I see staff abused.
