I wonder what finally set it off, did a butterfly land on it just right, did a mole or earthworm dig under it just enough, did the soil finally just shift enough, was there a tremor, and so many more scenarios? Yep life is scary when something so simple can be the cause of your potential death. I'd be scared and running too if it got that close, I bet they could feel the thuds each time it hit as it got closer, felt the boom , heard it, I bet their entire bodies and soul shook as it approached their direction before shifting away.

This is obviously a rockslide area because of the thousands of boulders at the bottom of that mountain. That's called at your own risk, or do not climb here, not natures darkside.
