Philadelphia is such and old city and she's in one part of it that hasn't been redevelop. If you go to any old city its like that including Old San Juan Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. It was all there before automobiles. All they had was horses and not much furniture in the house.

The alleyway was where we put our cans for the garage man to pickup.,and the kids came back in to get some water. Not the front, cause if we came in the front, you had to stay in the house.
great post I love philly. I'm in Port Richmond and also have a back alley fire escape that I use daily when I go to the corner store which is at the end of mine just on the other side, It's just convenient is all right out my kitchen then right back with the milk and eggs. Merry Christmas to you 😁

Growing up in Phila as a child , the alley ways had plenty of adventurous things to discover like cats , dogs , chickens , rabbits , I even found a goat and on more than one occasion I found baby pigs !! Everyday after school i looked forward to patrolling and seaching the alleys , best days of youthful life !!
