Hurtful to Dad to be bypassed . My son ,an only child now a father to my 2yo granddaughter , griped to me that she gravitated to the mother more . The bond maybe from the breastfeeding. I advised him to be more affectionate , volunteer to bathe her , brush her teeth , dress , fix her hair , prepare backpack for daycare/ school, feed her at mealtimes , devote more time together . It seems to be working.
Because she’s the one who takes care of both of them

I amost always, if not definitively always, hugged her first each time I came home from college for holidays, and when I relocated out of state for one of my jobs years later, I still always made a beeline for my mom, and my dad woukd patiently wait for the long, long hug before I went to him.He was the sweetest daddy ever. in my family, we always got together at my parents home...my Mom was a social butterfly and my Dad was quiet and didnt talk much, but he was always there...it was when he passed that our whole family dynamics changed.. we still got together, but it was never the same...even though he was in the background or being low key, we valued his presence and unspoken love...I still wish we could have had those talks...but in those days, kids were kept out of grown folks conversations...by the time I got old enough to feel confident enough to talk to him, he passed away...I was 20...Dad's mean much more than society tries to tell us these days...

Mom and Dad stay together if at all possible. You can’t gice your child a better gift. Put away your personal selfish ways and amd wants regarding the husband/ wife relationship. Go ti counseling when you encounter a serious rift. You can still work it out. Di everyone a favor and dint divorce because the ones it hurts the most and-don’t sometimes don’t recover or thrive afterwards are the chuldren. ( I’m not talking about those encountering severe verbal abuse or physical abuse ).
