we have nutria rats in Louisiana were supposed to be an effort to fix our wetlands.
Nutria (Myocastor coypus) are large, semi-aquatic rodents native to South America. They can grow up to 2.5 ft long, weigh over 20 lbs, and have 12–18 in tails. Nutria are known for their long, white whiskers and round, sparsely haired tails, which distinguish them from beavers and muskrats. Nutria are herbivores that eat the roots and stems of wetland plants. They can cause significant damage to wetlands, crops, and infrastructure like roads and dikes. Nutria also serve as hosts for tuberculosis and septicemia, which are threats to humans, livestock, and pets. Additionally, nutria carry tapeworms, a nematode that causes a rash known as “nutria itch”, and blood and liver flukes, which can contaminate swimming areas and drinking water supplies.
Those are Nutrias!. I had one for a pet. They are not related to the rat Family but are a cousin to the Beaver Family.

Although I was in the middle of the city and I remember walking my dog in the nighttime and we came upon a garbage huge container and they’re all these cats trying to get into it. They’re standing up on their back legs, and I had a German Shepherd at the time and oh my God the closer we got, I realized those aren’t cats. Those are rats as big as cats. I know these are nutria, but they do have rats as big as cats in New York City🤔
Democ rats are huge and filthy elitist rats that live off the hard work of field mice. Here they can be seen in the wild outside the doors of Congress. They are the last remnants of the swamp and shall be dealt with. Thanks DJT!!!

The City needs to take care of this animal as they pose serious infectious infestation problems as they are disease ridden and pose serious health problems to humans & animals & agriculture land if they are on it. Why any City would put up with and infestation like this is beyond me, bcuz if they don’t take care of it before it grows larger, there will be no way to contain n it. Yeah those Nutrias look like huge, mutated rat-beavers! But they're not related to beavers, nor rats I don't think. We have them in Oregon! They're from South America and someone decided to bring in a bunch to the U.S. I guess on both coasts and they've become an invasive species. They're fat, but timid. They're harmless to humans. But they eat all the grass and green matter. So Central Park is screwed if they're around there.

I am vet tech of over 20 years I was amazed when pet Nutria came in. They are usually found as pups under porches, or other hidden places. Moms do not come back sometimes. They are so sweet. They coo and sqeak, hold your hands, and cuddle. I know in the wild they can be scary if you cross them.The only thing that I did not like was thier tails similar to rats tail. When you work with animals you never know what you may see as pets.
