When Thomas was at his peak he was in the top 5 for best point guards ever. The issue is his peak was very short and players like Stockton played at that peak for a very long time What separated the two is Stockton was a way better perimeter defender. Thomas was a better scorer than Stockton. Was a very good passer. I think Paul is probably on the Stockton, Thomas level. Magic was on another level when he first came into the league. His defense, passing and scoring capabilities put him in the competition for the greatest point guards ever. for any point guards generation..Oscar Robinson is in that level. Only Wilt dominated his time like Oscar Robinson did his. But how much does longevity play into greatness for a few seasons or one season? Wear would Jordan be at if he played right put of high-school like James instead of going ti college and entering the NBA later? Would Kareem be the all time block leader if they recorded blocks when he fist came into the league?
Now, people whine about the all-star games not being competitive enough. Why would the players risk getting hurt or hurting another player in a fun game that is nothing more than a recognition of their hard work during the season?
