Genesis 27:41 "And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him..." Esau's initial hatred was in response to Jacob receiving the blessing his father intended for him. Esau's hatred led him to plan to kill Jacob, which is why Jacob was sent away to Haran.

Jacob's name is changed to Israel in Genesis 32:28 and again in Genesis 35:10 of the KJV 1611 version, both times after he wrestles with God. In Genesis 32:28, after the struggle, the being says, "Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed". God reaffirms this change in Genesis 35:10, saying, "Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name
