Yes they’re common throughout the whole state. I’ve seen them in South Alabama when I was younger. I now live in North Alabama in the Batteground./Vinemont area. I watched 2 different ones from my front porch. Here where I’m living now. An older worn down looking one, and a stout younger well built one.
I lived out in the country some 15 years ago. One of my neighbors told me she saw one in my back yard back then.
