you use an auger to plant trees.This is for irrigation pipe. and even than . you dig those about 4 feet down plus, due to equipment running on top and earth shifting to prevent the pipe cracking and breaking.I have grown almond and pistachio trees for decades. and replanted multiple fields due to old age of the trees ( almond trees at older ages do not produce enough to make it profitable to continue to grow)
