I have so much respect for that Judge. Unfortunately, I wish that was the case with everybody that thinks that all they have to do is have sex and not even consider the fact that they’re bringing a human into the world. It’s disgusting and I wish they had to pay like they should. Somebody named Jim Phillips who had to talk to for many years in Orlando Florida always said something I agreed with. Having children should be a privilege not a right. I wish that could be enforced.

both children, unfortunately, need to be taken away from the mother and adopted by individuals that will give both children a much better life than this LAZY, under-educated, immoral and disgusting young girl, who thinks she only needs to give birth to them and oh, somebody else will step in and take care of these poor babies...I know this as fact because I 💕 Ve with someone JUST LIKE HER! she's given birth to three young boys, doesn't feed them, do their laundry, buy their clothes or worry about their education; that's been left for me!
That judge is absolutely right. Obviously she can do better but doesn’t really seem to want to or put in any effort. Instead of prison, too bad there’s not some intensive work program along with parenting classes and basic living skills and if appropriate, drug rehabilitation. and make it like prison in the way you can’t leave. And depending what her original charge was, make it anywhere from 18 months to 36 months in a program like that.

failure to thrive is a medical condition. my daughter had it. it's when you feed your baby and all the calories that they are eaten at that moment are used up so they can't gain weight and grow. my daughter was premature and had a lot of medical problems.
I love this judge. If she sees you making an effort to turn your life around she gives you a chance. If you feed her a line of bull she is firm but fair!

The problem is women get loads of services and then can stay on the system where they are allowed to have as many children as they want and not bother to get jobs or address any issues they have. It should be handled like a contract.. you want something then you have to agree to something. Many of these women have emotional-mental disorders. There needs to be reasonable pathways. First they need birth control preferably the type inserted in the arm for long term use. Second mandatory evaluation. If they have issues like bipolar or anxiety they need counseling and there are new ways being recognized to heal folks in some PTSD and other scenarios. If there is no issues then a pathway that helps them get ahead. If there are issues a pathway for help or healing to progress.
I hope more young women hear this judge and heed her words before they become carelessly pregnant with precious children who deserve more.

I respect this judge! Birth control is too easily available and too many women continue having children when they can’t support the children they already have. I know years ago services were cut to people having multiple children and getting government support. They tried to collect money because they had a choice to be sterilized or keep give up support. If you have children, it’s mostly a choice. If you can’t support a child, don’t create one!

I love Judge Boyd but she’s wrong about failure to thrive. Most of the time it is no fault of the mother at all it doesn’t mean she didn’t bond with her baby or Feed her baby. I work in the Maternal Child ward of a local hospital here in Buffalo
