I had great hair, then one day I sat in the barber chair and said a little off the top and I walked out bald. The barber cut off all my hair to the scalp. I was furious, I complained but was told my my Drill Sergeant to beat my face.

I went to the salon. Long blonde hair half way down my back. The lady was more than happy to chop my hair off. Sadly. It made her day. I was crushed. I asked for a trim. Yeah she gave me a fade damn near. I wanted to bawl. Never again. Also my GMA was a beautician and she always cut it how she wanted. Regardless of we told her we wanted a certain way. She did her own way. lol. Still 83 and feistier than ever. 😜

Well first of all I would have stopped them the minute they cut off to much not let them continue cutting..
I’m a retired hair stylist. the customer & stylist NEED TO ALWAYS know what the game plan is!! I would NEVER LET someone cut my hair, unless they knew EXACTLY how much I wanted off!! So it’s just as much the clients fault as it is the stylist. COMMUNICATION.!! That’s the key to a successful visit to the hair salon!!!
It’s like my Mom…..many years ago she went to get a perm and a trim at her usual salon. She was back home in less than an hour and soooo pissed off! Seems her usual girl was ill, so instead of rescheduling Mom’s appt., they had a different girl do it! After Mom cooled down, she called them and asked to talk to the owner and calmly explained how she was treated, NOT her usual girl, had a perm and crappy trim in a total of 45 min, and was man-handled! The owner did NOTHING but tell my Mom she was no longer welcomed at the salon. And when Mom’s usual girl found out what happened, she immediately quit! Luckily when she was hired by another salon, Mom went with her! 🤦🏻
when you see her to start to cut it off tell her stop , get out of the chair, tell her again what you want be stern , if she can't do the job leave don't waite til she is done then complain that's on you then 😲🤔

That was done to me also. when she finished , I asked her if she remembered me telling her I did not want it short or buzzed. She said she remembered. I said, good. You can explain to your supervisor why you did this! I was so angry.
In Illinois you have to be licensed in cosmetology to touch anyone’s hair and you are required so many hours. You can’t just walk in and ask for a job idk where this is but most states have rules like this you can’t just do hair you have to go to Beauty school
Last salon I went to, asked for a shape up… ONLY trim half an inch. My hair was down to my butt. She cut it ABOVE MY BRA!!!😱and put LAYERS in the back! It’s been a year and I’m afraid to go back to a salon. She keeps sending me texts offering a discount. I don’t mince words; I tell her no and exactly why. When did half an inch become 6? 🤔I thought that was a lie only men tried. 😬
When I was 9, my hair was down to my knees . My mom got tired of helping me brush it, so she took me to a salon, and I ended up with a pixie ! Talk about broken-hearted !

I’ve done hair for 20 years. Now I can’t life my arms without pain. I had a lump removed from my under arm. I went to a salon in my area and asked if she knew how to cut hair in stack showed her pictures, she fit real nervous and made me ask her several times if she knew what she was doing. My hair ended up too short all the way around. I was angry but paid and gave her a tip, but won’t ever give a new business a chance.
I was a hairdresser many, many years ago. One thing I learned was never cut it to short because you can't put it back on,you can't always take an inch or so more! Two weeks ago, I went into a walk-in,my hair was on top, and sides back about 5 inches long all around. she said, "How much would you like me to cut?" I said 2 inches, leaving 3 inches. I took my glasses off, and she said, "Do you mind if I use the clippers?"I said, "Whatever you feel comfortable with." When I walked out, she had shaved (clipped)the back and sides to a half inch,left the top at 3 inches. I didn't put my glasses on until I paid her and tipped her. I look like Bart Simson. it will take at least 5 months to have my hair grow back an inch or so! I would have been fired if I cut a client hair like that!
only reason why great clips has a bad rep is they r required to do hair cuts in 15 minutes or less. it's not the stylist because great clips offer and mandate classes. it's hard to concentrate on a cut when ur always thinking Abt the 15 minutes. that turns in write ups and even termination. so please don't judge the stylist blame the company for unrealistic cut times.
