lmao ,the first initial pop sounded like a black cat firework it was probably someone watching them out their house window and just lit one off to mess with them , seems to me that if someone was going to have all the time in the world to take aim they would hit their target especially in the close group they were standing in and I wouldn't imagine them just shooting one and done.
