You do realize that’s what we do so the crack doesn’t spread? Make a hole that doesn’t have a split point but a smooth bore so there’s so place for the crack to split from thus fixing it
If he doesn’t do it there’s a chance of it splitting off and cracking even more

Why don’t you show the full video? Isn’t that the normal process of repairing the crack? You have to drill a hole and fill it in with resin
