might be your GUAGE IS faulty.....
Mine did the same thing the first time I tried to fill up my new Tesla !!! I still havent figured it out.
Worse thing one can do to your car is to over fill the gas tank. It needs that little air pocket to function as intended. Stop filling after the first click. Look it up!

CHECK YOUR FUEL LEVEL CONTROL . SOMETIMES THE LEVER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED . ITS NOT IN THE COMMAND, ITS AT THE FUEL PUMP. IT GETS DEPOSITS.

I had a similar problem one time and it was because the vents on fuel tank were clogged with carbon build up because the purge valve was bad for the EVAP
