It’s probably the middle of the afternoon, and it’s hot outside. The expansion of vapors from the existing fuel, make it hard to add fresh fuel. This would be very common in a state like Arizona. On a hot day, it’s best to add fuel in the morning.

You might want to check out the gas filling nozzle on the car. Mine was bent and had to be replaced. $150- $200 depending on make and model of vehicle.

your 'float' valve in your gas tank is broken. You need to keep track of how many miles you can drive on a tank of gas. The ol' trip meter will come in handy for that.

check valve could be bad
vent valve failure or purge valve solenoid bad. it happens from over filling your tank. when the gas pump kicks the handle off do not try and top it off or this will eventually happen...

it's either full with a broke gauge , or u have a vacuum line blocked and it won't allow fuel in
the sending unit that tells you how much gas you have is out. you need a new one. Doh!

Why not get that hole fixed on the inside of your gas opening cause it looks like you’re emptying the gas directly onto the pavement and try sticking the nozzle into the tank opening?
my car did that after I backed into a snow pile it broke the part that let's air out the tank or whatever I had to go to junkyard to find one cuz they didn't make it for my car anymore

Obviously, it looks like your gas gauge. It’s probably not working so in other words, your gas is full.
It’s the fuel pump it needs to be changed. I had that issue. It would take me a literary almost 25 minutes to put $20 in my gas tank. It’s the fuel pump.
bought brand new car and when tank went to empty, it wouldnt take gas. i I'm blonde, so took a lot of crap about how to use a gas pump. But, ended up being a collapsed gas line....straight from manufacturer. hope its that simple for you.
