who'd you have weld it? a blind 4 year old jacked up on Mountain Dew??
so that the back wheels slid and spin together instead of them spinning different rotations makes it much more difficult to get the right slide plus power to wheel spin . it's all in sync after weld

we used to call that a "fool's spool" back in the day .. as it'll blow up at one point or another because welding to the gears changes their temper, and they break pretty easily after that
