horseflys Do Too Bite..literally got bit by one fishing as I also wondered what landed on my toe just in time I realized my skin started to sting were it rested on my foot , them crunch it flysoff with a chuck of flesh ..it pitched for two solid weeks..no joke.!!! the one I h a d my encounter with had red eyes only difference..

not horse fly ..... But in Spanish we call them ( CHiCHARAS ). they don't bite ,, this are the ones you hear in the summer making that winding noise n it's slows down little by little.... look up the word meaning in English
