in the 70's as a kid, my Dad taught us to be kind to Pray Mantis's. I still always remember as now I'm 63.
I wish I could upload a video from my old phone, showing a praying mantis i rescued. I went to feed it a meal word and it spread it's wings at me for a defense mode. It so cool. The poor guy was scared yes, but mellowed in time and finally took mealies from my hand;)) Awesome creatures!!
Weβve had 100 praying mantis hatchlings and raised them to release but kept one to watch growing. It laid eggs before it died but the eggs never hatched
dude that's so cool. i have never seen one with babies before. that's awesome.
She's beautiful & definitely full of eggs!! I love these critters π
Beautiful.π

Well hello there Momma π
Love these amazing insects.. but if you see them around hummingbirds or hummingbird feeders please move the praying mantis as they will destroy a hummingbird!!! They will catch the hummingbird and actually kill the hummingbird by tearing the bird open. I saw it happen to one of my beautiful hummingbirds, a praying mantis was on my feeder β¦I thought the mantis was drinking the solution but it was waiting to catch the hummingbird to kill it. I was shocked to see this happen, I was able to get the hummingbird out from the mantis, took the mantis off my feeder so it wasnβt able to destroy my hummingbirds!! I googled to see the info on how mantis will kill a hummingbird. I couldnβt believe that nature was correct on this. Sorry for the long read.
Iβve filmed a lady Mantis laying her eggs and creating the nest for her babies. It is a wonderful thing!
Aww look at him licking the footsies just chilling π©π
Lucky you , we never see them anymore they are a majestic creature and your lucky , getting that close
A few of us send pictures back and forth I found one this spring, it was so small I was able to take a picture with in on my thumb nail.
Wow!

We had them in a rose bush beside our house growing up, loved them, so cool.
They look like aliens. I am afraid of those things. I would never, ever hold a Praying Mantis or let one be on me. When I was a teenager, one landed on my pant leg and I ran around screaming for somebody to get it off me.
Oh' just put the bug on its favorite tree , you know it is friends to humans , for eating the bugs that we don't have to , π«©ππββοΈππ€’ , π
Itβs actually cute and looks pretty smart too
Looks like she's about to POP!! π₯°π
"If a praying mantis bites you, it will not be venomous or lethal, but it may sting or scratch. To treat the bite, wash the area with soap and water, apply an antiseptic if the skin is broken, and use a cold compress to reduce swelling. The discomfort should subside on its own."
They bite and they bite it like a bee sting, but yes, they bite and it does hurt
Hims feets dirty.
