so here's the scary part. she can get pregnant (by a random) during the time between you two agreeing to get divorced and signing the final paperwork. but divorce court overwhelmingly favor the woman. in the case of custody of offspring the ex-wife or the ex-wife parents 87% of the time get full custody. and here's the sexist part. because most wives are unemployed the judge knows that child support payments are going to be unlikely to ever happen. and the fee's the court takes from every transaction go directly into the judges retirement plan as a pool to be divided evenly each year amongst the state judges. this is why it's overwhelmingly men who are stuck paying child support and not the other way around. they make a considerably smaller amount from incarcerating someone who is behind on their payments because of the overhead from feeding them daily. also because the prison system takes a cut
