She could have easily knocked on the door to inform them before she went on her trip, just like she knocked on their door when she returned.

The tow truck company is responsible IF it truly was public parking. A tow away from legal parking spot can only be done by the legal owner of the car BUT other local laws can apply if the qualifications for abandonment apply. local/ state authorities are the only ones who can declare abandonment. If no laws governed this the tow companies would be rich towing every parked car they find.
It should have never been towed because it is a public street and you don’t have to inform anyone of parking on a public street, as far as an abandoned car, the police should have been called first and the tow company would have informed that it was not stolen or that it didn’t look broken down, so the tow company would have to bite that bullet and give them the car back!

As long as the car was legit with tags and stickers on a public street there's nothing you can do About it! At least that's how it is where I'm from
it's a public street and she didn't have to talk to anyone about how long she'll be parking there, especially if her plates and registration were valid.
In my area the car can stay parked on the street, unmoved, for a maximum of 48 hours. after that it's considered abandoned and towable. communication is key. had similar problems with a neighbor that was a drug dealer.
The neighbor was a Karen for calling a tow truck, if its a public street and no parking restrictions she had no right to call the tow company. But it sounds as the tow company is at fault for randomly towing a car that another person do not own and claimed "abandoned" but requested to tow while it's parked on a public street...
If they called and got the car towed on the public street and said it was abandoned first of all I live in my neighborhood I know what cars be in and out of here so as they should, if they’re their neighbors, they’ve seen that car before to call and get it towed was stupid and they do owe $500
Yep, she has every right to take her to small claims court. She has it towed because she thinks THE WORLD belongs to her. Didn’t want the car in front of her house.
You might as well go and pay that $500 cause you don’t have a leg to stand on she figured the lady was older and didn’t know much about the law so in essence she was trying to bully her into paying the $500 fee classic

She was very respectful of how she approached the neighbor about her sister's car being towed away because of her parking in front of their home. it is a public street.She's allowed to park anywhere on their street. People fail to understand or realize that!. now it's that ladies' responsibility to go get their car out of the tow yard! $500 or, like she said , small claims court!!

Maybe the gal should have made sure she parked in front of her own home and there wouldn’t be an issue. She should have asked the other neighbors to move their cars. They should have given u a heads up since the car was not recognized, people abandon cars all the time. The lady who owns the home had every right to have it towed. They may not have to inform anyone, but it’s called ‘common courtesy’ the $500 is on her & her sister.
actually if the street was a public street and the city did not tow it, then anyone wh I called to have it removed is liable for the cost to get it back. you can't have someone vehicle towed because it is parked on a public street in front of your resident. I found this out the h ard way. I had a vehicle removed from in front of my b house and had to pay the impound fee to get it out. this was in Little Rock, AR

Normally the cops would paste a warning note after receiving courtesy notification of a car being parked for more than 72 hours on one spot, the car would be towed after no response.
In my day, we would leave a note on the dash asking not to tow. She probably doesn't write though unless it's on text.

The same as she knocked now is the same as she should have knocked beforehand. However, it should have been the neighbor's door that parks in front of their house.🙄 To tell them they need space for the weekend comma problem solved!

if you went to Disney World why not park in your drive where you just moved your car from or did you and the kids walk there
why didn't she just ask her neighbors to move out of the parking spot that they were taking? instead of risking it to get the biscuit because you're lazy and didn't want to leave a note or anything? you have 12 hours all together with leeway cops can give you . You wanted to go to Disneyland so quickly then you can pay the price for your laziness 😁
