IAm a retired educator who had Civics in HS and realizes it was my.most important class! i know how the government works, or suppose to work. i know we are a Constitutional Republic which made us greastest country ever because of the intellect and effort put into it by our forefathers. i know there are many enemies who want to destroy US , mainly Socialist and Communist. i know forefathers-made Education a “state function” and when Democrats made it a national function, they stopped having Civics in the curriculum. Democrats want Big government, many controls, under the federal level which is-in direct contradiction to forefathers plan. Republicans want smaller so to allow We the people to have freedom to take advantage of the opportunity for all, that is built into our constitution. Government is to mainly Protect We the People. Build infrastructure and make laws that help our society to work best for We the people to take advantage of opportunity for all and equal protection built into our-constitution The government is to protect us against foreign forces that attempt to destabilize our way of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
