During my vacation in the Gulf, compliments of the USN. We only had 50's, 60's, 12 gauge, 45s, and two stingers. Mine sweeping is long and arduous and not ideal for a drone packed with C4 that will turn you into an after dinner tooth pick. The MSO's are all gone and the MCM's are nearing their end. The Osprey class just didn't live up to the Navy's expectations and all are gone as well. The MH Hello class Sea Stallion that drags a magnetic pulse hydrofoil sled from the air would be like shooting fish in a barrel. So, the NAVY really doesn't have an effective way to clear mines right now. Not to mention the Russian smart mines that will pick up and move once pinged by sonar and are acoustic as well. They might let a frigate pass by because of their low hull vibration but not a Carrier, LST, LSD or a LSH which has a larger signature. The Navy's is not going to play the " F " around and find out game!!
