Had a pilot announce to do that on a trip from Denver to San Diego while going over two nation parks. Grand Canyon was one of them. Quite a different view looking at it from the air.

Is that the Grand Canyon? Flew over the GC once in July. Denver to Vegas. Roughest plane ride ever. Pilot said it was because of heat from Canyon. All I know is it beat the crap out of that plane and all of us on it.
